I am having a problem with the OEHDRAUD.BTR file in Macola 7.5.102e. Whenever we print an invoice from an order we get an I/O error on the OEHDRAUD.BTR file. The invoice appears to post correctly throughout the rest of macola but the record in OEHDRAUD.BTR is missing. This just started hapening. Any ideas as to how to fix it?

Is the file itself present?

If so I would rebuild the file. If not, initialize it.

The file is present. I have rebuilt it. I have also exported the data, initialized the file, and importing the back to the file. Yet it continues to cause the same error.

Is it just an I/O error or are there more details that you can provide?

It is just an I/O error. The file does not capture audit data related to the transaction being processed. All other elements of the transaction appear to be OK.

Does it capture information concerning other changes to the header during entry?

Is it creating the aud_action B (before change) and C (after change) records, but not recordinf the change in the records, or is it not creating the records at all?

Also, this is a silly question but the audit trail is turned on in OE Setup correct?

Yes, Maintain Audit Trail is selected in O/E Setup. There are no records being captured to the file.

Just realized that you said you are on ver 7.5.102e - Btrieve db. It sounds to me that the I/O Error is more of a Btrieve error then a Macola I/O error. It's been along time since I converted away from Btrieve but as indicated previously, sounds like a corrupted db file somewhere. Here's some info I found online that might help....

38: The MicroKernel encountered a transaction control file I/O error
This status code is obsolete in MicroKernel versions 7.0 and later.

The MicroKernel tried to write to the transaction control file. Possible causes for receiving this status code are that the disk is full, the disk is write protected, the transaction control file (BTRIEVE.TRN) that is created when you load the MicroKernel has been deleted, or the transaction control file is flagged read-only or is corrupt.

Another question - single order or all orders receiving this error when invoicing?

Also how big is the OEHDRAUD.btr file? There is a physical size limit, especially on older versions of btrieve/pervasive, but what this size is escapes me at the moment.

I would try to purge the file, then rebuild it. A btrieve file must be rebuilt to actually reclaim the space taken up by the purged data.

Could it also be possible that after exporting the data, they'll delete the file before initializing it so that the file is actually recreated? I can't remember the process exactly under btrieve. Possible bad sector on the harddrive?

OEHDRAUD.BTR file size ~ 156MB before rebuild

Exported Data
Renamed OEHDRAUD.BTR OEHDRAUD.BAK
Initialized file - Created new OEHDRAUD.BTR
Imported Data

OEHDRAUD.BTR file size ~ 32MB

It appears to be working fine now. The table must have been corrupted; therefore, forcing Macola to create the table from scratch eliminated the corruption.

Thank you for your help.

Glad to hear that its fixed.

Not sure how much data you have but upgrading to SQL is a instant performance improvement. Designing Crystal Reports went from hit refresh and make coffee, get a cup of coffee to hit refresh and maybe take a sip of coffee.

Something to consider.
