Are Synergy’s mail merge options as limited as they seem? The few processes that are available involve no content on the fly and are rather rigid compared to other CRM tools. Our users have certain expectations coming from other CRM tools which would involve a process similar to: Choosing multiple accounts from a search screen, choosing a default header layout, and typing content on the fly. Yet Synergy doesn’t really seem to provide this.

The current options we’ve found involve only pre-fabricated content or pulling down in to MSWord via the add-in, but the method with the add-in only saves to one account and doesn’t allow for multiple customers.

These are the methods our consulting group has shown us but we’re wondering if there’s something we’re missing about the process or if Synergy’s mail merge really is this rigid, any thoughts/comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think batch 372 addresses your issue about choosing multiple accounts.

We've run into the "typing on the fly" issue several times. With the account merge, it seems to be rigid. If you're doing a single merge to one account, a workaround is to use the workflow merge. Link the workflow task to the account, and type the comments into the remarks field. This isn't very smooth though.

Another thought is to use Interconnect's Outlook Addin. It allows you to open a new email, pull in contact(s) from eSynergy, then pull up a template from eSynergy, merge it with account data, and add text on the fly. Takes a number of steps, but works.
