Your ESynergy system does not synch the contacts from the crm and scm cards to our Outlook Address Book. Exact and our reseller do not have an answer. Does anyone else have this problem? We can't keep two databases of over 30000 contacts up to date without them automatically synching. While Exact touted this as a feature when we purchased it, they have not found a solution in 10 months.

Suggestions are welcome.

Does the background job just fail? Can you post the process log that shows your exchange job events?

We had this problem as well and finally figured it out :) Please post a copy of the log.

some things to check:

1. Make sure you are using Office 2k on the server that will run the job. DO NOT install the security update for Office. If you install the security update it will never work because it wont allow, even with the correct permissions, the user running the job to send email through exchange.
2. Make sure the permissions are correct for the user running the job
3. Do NOT sync calendars! There is a serious problem with recurring calendar events that creates a TON of unwanted requests to be generated.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will forward your suggestions on to our Esynergy team. They are working on a solution trying to develop their own program to synch in the background. but it's all an added expense that Exact should have worked out on their own. We have 2003 server and office 2000. they have admitted the bug, but have not yet come up with a solution from the company.

You can have them check to make sure the security update was not installed by logging in to the server running the job and execute the job string..

Something like(at the run prompt):
cmd SynergyExchange.exe /S:server /D:esynergy /E:mailserver

If they get a pop up window or several of them then they need to uninstall office and reinstall it without the security update.

There is a way to fix this problem programatically and with a freely available DLL to get around this problem. I hope they fix this soon :)

Our reseller has developed a program that has allowed us to synch the outlook calendars and all the contacts (not just the main one) with outlook. After two years, we finally are getting it to work but the method is manual and cumbersome and cannot be run in the background automatically.

If anyone needs this, I will put you together with our exact reseller that developed the program.
